Not Just Another Teen Book!
|
Adults are talking about My Sister's Wedding. Talk show host Robin Kall of Reading With Robin says My Sister's Wedding has, "Great dialogue...very real." Kall adds, "It reminded me of Jennifer Weiner (author of Good In Bed)." Bobbe Needham, author of The Question Box names Goodman as the, "Judy Blume for the millennium, edgy, smart, and genuine. Hats off!"
Teens are talking about My Sister's Wedding. After taking Goodman's novel home for a weekend read, Middletown High Sophomore Katie Homer says, "The first thing [we] said to her on Monday was where's the sequel?" Classmate Erika Frisk, who joined the weekend reading says, "We definitely related to it!"

From The In Box

Hi Hannah I just finished the second book. I couldn't stop bawling. Poor Brian. Poor Maddie. Why....How could you??? But it was all sooo good!!!! The story was so powerful. For me especially with my dad, I could relate so well. I took so much away form this book. And I love Bubbie. You are a brilliant writer. I aspire to be half as good. I can not wait for the next one. Thanks for the story. See you in a couple weeks. Kim --------------------------------- |
Hi Hannah
Please bring me your second book. I'd like to purchase it. And I LOVED My sister's wedding!!!! I started it and finished it on the plane. I laughed and could have cried. It was 16 candles, Breakfast club all rolled into one....I truly enjoyed every minute! Can't wait to get started on the next one. See you Sat. Kim---------------------------------

Hi Hannah, I just wanted to let you know that I am absolutely loving your book! (I started with My Sister's Wedding.) I'm glad (selfishly) that I got the only copies at WP! I love Maddie---her voice is so strong, and her perspective so unique. I'm actually annoyed because I have a ton of stuff to do this week, and I just want everybody to leave me alone so I can immerse myself in Maddie's world and then delve into the next book! Anyway, I hope you're doing well. It was wonderful meeting you on Saturday. I hope to talk to you soon.Peace,Lucia---------------------------------

Dear Hannah Goodman,I must say the similarities between the camp you wrote about in My Summer Vacation and the camp I attended this past summer were almost scary! There was even a CIT named Noah there. And also, I, like Maddie, love writing! And then I read your about the author. I LIVE IN RHODE ISLAND, TOO! I live in Warren. I was so excited when I finished this book. I hope you'll write back soon, I look forward to your reply.Sincerely,Audrey Collins---------------------------------

"Hannah Goodman has written a wonderfully witty, engrossing and hilarious novel about sisters and their relationships. Her prose is dead on and her scenes flow effortlessly from one to the other. I can't remember the last time I stayed up to finish a book, but I had to finish My Sister’s Wedding!" Rosemary O’Brien, Author of First Saturday

In the 2005 fall issue of East Bay Living, syndicated columnist cited several famous authors like Grisham and Patricia Cornwell as her favorite authors. She also added, "I also like local authors. There's a young adult book (My Sister's Wedding) by Hannah Goodman, a teacher who lives in Bristol (RI). It has great dialogue."
