My mouth moistens at hearing Shakay’s description of those spicy triangles. Although she hasn’t named them, I know, as I’ve also fallen under their seductive spell, another victim of their crunchy siren song. The opening of a Cool Ranch bag, like a striptease, taunts me with anticipation. I need all my waning self control in order not to peel back the bag, banana- or corn cob-style, only to spill its contents prematurely. Cool Ranch gives good spice; it cools as it burns; it takes me to the edge then pulls me back, and allows me to reach for more. Afterwards, I delay brushing my teeth. Spent by the encounter, I simply bask in the afterglow. Although Cool Ranch is my intimate, I sometimes carry on a promiscuous dalliance with Nacho Cheese. Call me a tart, a slut, a trollop, I don’t care. I crave variety in my snack partners; I want to be bad. The tug is strong now, it sucks me in. Perhaps Shakay will join me in a ménage a trios with a bag of Doritos. She can choose the flavor, as I go both ways.
