You have been through so much pain and confusion this past year. I am so glad that you are mending and feeling the sweet comfort of no pain.Please accept my love and apologies. I have abused you in so many ways, so many days. Why I ever asked you to train for and run four marathons will never be fully clear to me. I do know that the running of countless miles quieted my restless nature, soothed my heart and allowed me to lose my other addictions. But 80 miles a week of running was really asking too much. It is a wonder that you have any cartilage at all anywhere!So now you have a new hip joint. I saw one recently and it truly is a marvel that man can create replacement parts that so beautifully echo your perfect design. Your cartilage is gone, replaced with a smooth, strong white plastic material encased by titanium. I held this device – it was surprisingly heavy. Thank you for accepting it as your own. You are strong and brave. Watching you go through surgery was amazing. Each day you gained strength and mended almost too fast to believe. One day the surgeon cut you open and ripped out your hip, two days later the incision site was healed and I could walk! And now, 7 months later you give me the gift of pain free movement.Thank you for my good health – you purr and hum along, carrying me through life with such strength and precision.
