Hi, Hannah,
I want to share with you that I got my first rejection letter last weekend.  I was fine with it, thanks to you and my classmates.  I expected the rejection more than not since I have learned much about the process of submitting for possible publication. Hannah, you have sent us web sites, articles, and blogs to read and so, I felt well prepared.
Your support and the positive affirmation from my classmates has made all the difference for me. I know I wouldn't have submitted my story without all the encouragement and guidance I received. In my first class - Critique and Feedback I received positive feedback and constructive suggestions on what areas needed work in my story. This was key in improving my story and making me a better writer.
So, I say thank you to all of you. I will keep you posted on the rest of my responses as they come in. I hope to keep my chin up through the rest of the process!
I am working on ideas for another story to bring to my next class!

“Thank you for the helpful feedback. I feel like I wrote a song on guitar and you listened to it and said, " What if you put a piano solo after the bridge? I think the bass line should be this. How about if you have the drums do this beat?" I can't wait to hear what the whole thing sounds like when I put it together. Tonight is the last night of part 1 of "releasing". I'd like to offer you some feedback. What I liked least about the workshop is that the classes are TOO SHORT! Honestly, Hannah, from the time I leave on Wednesday night, I begin looking forward to the next one, and I'm disappointed when it ends.”

“The energy I got from the first class helped me breath new life into a story I’d put aside a few months earlier…We’re like blocks of marble and you’re Michelangelo with a chisel, chipping away the outer layers to reveal the good stuff underneath.”
Joanne C.

"A classic procrastinator, I had been 'talking about' writing a book, a memoir, for years.  But it was Hannah's class that actually got me to write. Instead of telling me 'how to write', she started me on the process of writing.  I would highly recommend her classes for anyone who has ever considered the possibility of writing.  It is an extremely creative, safe and encouraging environment."  Deb Laufer

Releasing the Writer Within provides students with a small writing community.  We root for and support each other, as Hannah does the same for each of us.  During a recent series of classes I suffered a devastating personal loss, a life-changing event.  The class rallied around and gathered me into a protective cocoon where I felt safe to share my feelings and express my grief.  I’ll always be grateful and will never forget their generous empathy.  Joanne Carnevale

I have been writing for as long as I can remember, but it is only since I took your class (Releasing the Writer
Within) that I began to feel confident enough to submit
any of my pieces. Erika Bailey

"Hannah Goodman has written a wonderfully witty, engrossing and hilarious novel about sisters and their relationships. Her prose is dead on and her scenes flow effortlessly from one to the other. I can't remember the last time I stayed up to finish a book, but I had to finish My Sister’s Wedding!"
Rosemary O’Brien, Author of First Saturday

In the 2005 fall issue of East Bay Living, syndicated columnist cited several famous authors like Grisham and Patricia Cornwell as her favorite authors.  She also added, "I also like local authors.  There's a young adult book (My Sister's Wedding) by Hannah Goodman, a teacher who lives in Bristol (RI). It has great dialogue."
